Principal's Message
Dear La Colima Owls, Parents, and Families,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at La Colima Elementary. I am proud to serve as your La Colima principal. I hope you and your family had a fun and relaxing summer break. I cannot wait to see the new and returning La Colima owls!
Our staff is committed to working with the students and families to ensure that your child maximizes their educational experience as they continue to develop academically, behaviorally, and emotionally. La Colima is an amazing place to learn and thrive. Our goal is for each student to know how much they are cared for as an individual and welcome them to the La Colima community.
This year, our theme is “La Colima: Building-Connecting-Achieving.” As a school, we are committed to building a foundation for learning, connecting innovative thinking with one another, and achieving the necessary skills to be a successful 21st-century and lifelong learner.
The facilities and programs at La Colima are expanding and improving. This year, we added two full-day Transitional Kindergarten (TK) classrooms. Our Broad Course Of Study (BCOS) team is also expanding. Every other week, your child will receive enrichment lessons in the areas of Art, Music, STEM, or Physical Education. In addition, all 4th & 5th-grade students will receive bi-weekly violin lessons. This summer the blacktop was dug up and will be resurfaced with new games to play on. Later this fall, the school will be able to cool off by utilizing the new air conditioning in the cafeteria and we are gearing up to use our new STEM lab.
The first day of school will be on Tuesday, August 15th. La Colima Owls will start building and connecting with one another as we begin the 2023-24 school year. Parents are welcome to walk their children onto campus on the first day of school only. Since we are a closed campus, students will be dropped off at the designated gates starting the 2nd day of school. Please remember that the first day of school is a minimum day.
I look forward to reconnecting with you and your child(ren) throughout the year. I am honored to be a part of the La Colima family as we work together to make our school the best it can be. Let’s make 2023-2024 a great year!
