Dear La Colima Owls, Parents, and Families,
With great excitement and anticipation, I welcome all new and returning students to the 2022-2023 school year! As the new school principal, I am committed to working with the staff and families to ensure that your child maximizes their educational experience as they continue to develop academically, behaviorally, and emotionally. La Colima is an amazing place to learn and thrive. Our goal is for each student to know how much they are cared for as an individual and to welcome them to the La Colima community.
This year, our school theme is “POWER UP! And Show Your Attitude-Gratitude-Effort (A.G.E.).” I invite all students, staff members, and families to “Power Up!” and ignite the attitude, gratitude, and effort needed to foster students’ creativity, develop their critical thinking skills, communicate and collaborate with their peers in meaningful ways, and build a community of learners who strive for academic excellence!
On Tuesday, August 16th, as La Colima Owls “power” into the 2022-23 school year, parents are welcome to walk their children onto campus. Since we are a closed campus, students will be dropped off at the designated gates starting the 2nd day of school. Please remember that the first day of school is an early release Tuesday.
In many ways, we anticipate returning to a more typical school year. However, I ask our families to stay flexible and open-minded as adjustments and changes are needed throughout the year. As you all know, there has been a rise in COVID cases in the past few weeks. L.A. County Public Health will release the updated guidance for schools at the end of the month. As soon as guidelines are established, I will communicate our protocols through Parent Square.
I look forward to meeting each of you as we prepare for the new school year. On Thursday, August 4th, I invite you to join me for a principal Meet and Greet at the La Colima campus at 9 am. I am thrilled to be a part of the La Colima family as we work together to make our school the best it can be for our students. Let’s make 2022-2023 a great year!

La Colima Principal
